Following Jesus

Why I left Christianity to Follow Jesus

2h 14m

Leaving Christianity is not leaving Jesus. The talk treats the Bible, the disciples, and the later church as having missed what He was doing, which was to deal with Yhwh and bring people to His Father.

Summary

Matthew 6:33, seek first the Kingdom and what has the Father's approval, is the line the talk is built on, together with two questions: who we are, and what the universe is. Christianity is described as Greek philosophy blended into a new religion, and hearing the text as one continuous account is what the talk credits with changing that reading. The talk agrees with Zechariah Sitchin that the Elohim are another species, called Anunnaki in other ancient Near Eastern works, and that they produced humanity.

Calling the Bible the word of God is read as putting Jesus' own title on a book. He is the message of the Father, and when He comes in the Father's name, name means authority, not a sound. Second Timothy 3:16 is not taken as a claim that God breathed the Bible into the authors. In Acts 1 the disciples, after three years and forty days, still ask if He will restore the kingdom to Israel, and get behind me, Satan is read as aimed at Yhwh.

Matthew takes Mark and changes it, including a birth story and resurrection appearances Mark does not have, and a corrected picture of disciples Mark paints as lost. Barabbas is the contrast for two messiahs, Yhwh's and the Father's, and the crowd rejects the Father's. The word Christian never appears in Jesus' speech or in the undisputed letters of Paul, Acts calls the movement the Way, and ecclesia was an assembly that voted, which Jesus told them not to turn into a top-down rule. The close is that He fulfilled Yhwh's contract, opened the scroll in Revelation 5, and transferred humanity from Yhwh to the Father and the Son.
